Color Rain makes debut

By Cassie Garrett-

A new art installation in Batesville might be the first-of-its-kind in the United States. The Batesville Area Arts Council is unveiling the exhibit called Color Rain in the downtown parking lot.

"This artistic installation, inspired by the rainbow that appears after a storm, is composed of colorful ribbons. It moves with the wind and transforms the skies, interacting with the natural elements in free form," BAAC stated. "This installation is new for 2022, and just like last year's installment of Umbrella Sky, we expect visitors from all over the region to make their way to Batesville to view and take their pictures under Color Rain."

Color Rain first debuted in Portugal and France before being installed in Batesville. It will be on display until June.

Beginning in July, the famous "Umbrella Sky Project" will return, this time in a different palette of colors and patterns. BAAC stated, "Not only is the installation lovely to see in our downtown district, but it also offers much-appreciated shade for our Farmers' Market and provides an attractive venue for downtown events."

Each Batesville Sky installation will be promoted across the region as well as in the Cincinnati and Indianapolis markets making the Batesville Sky installations a unique tourist destination in southeast Indiana. These installations will continue to inspire beauty in our downtown and create a unique artistic display for residents and visitors to enjoy.

To reserve space under these installations for any free event open to the public, visit the website where a form is provided.

The art installation address is 121 Shopping Village, Batesville.
