Doyne C. Wildman, 90 of Liberty, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022. He was born on December 15, 1931 in Deedsville, to the late Francis Ellis Wildman and Frances Naomi Balsbaugh Wildman. He grew up on a farm and he was the fifth child of ten.  

He was a 1950 graduate of Leesburg High School.  

Doyne was a member of the Hanna's Creek Christian Church. He served on the board of directors for REMC from 1968 until 1980. 

After high school, Doyne served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He was deployed to the Caribou Air Force Station, Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine where he was a heavy equipment operator. Loring AFB was a maximum-security storage area for the “most advanced weapons of mankind,” which were the nuclear weapons of the cold war.  

After returning home from the military, Doyne worked with the International Union of Operating Engineers. He participated in some of the interstate highway system when it first began. Doyne had worked on the US Highway 27 reconstruction project north of Liberty in the late 1950s. He then met and married Gwenna Stevens-Brandenburg. They were married on October 25, 1957. They enjoyed nearly 65 years together, making their home here in Liberty. Together they were blessed with 6 children.  

In 1969 Doyne started the Wildman Excavating business. Both his sons, as well as his 3 grandsons, worked for the business. His son, Tom, partnered with him and has continued the business to this day. Doyne worked actively in the family business until retiring in 2018.  

Along with his loving wife of 65 years, he is survived by his children, Christine (Dale) Allison, of Washington, Indiana, Rick Brandenburg, of Carson, Washington, Tedd (Anke) Wildman, of Prosser, Washington, Tom (Paula) Wildman, of Liberty, and Tresa Wildman, of Muncie; 13 grandchildren, 14-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Clarice Kilmer, Ellis Dean Wildman, Joseph (Joan) Wildman, Carolee Thomas, William (Nellie) Wildman, Geraldine (Lynn) Stooky-Shipley and Mary (Jim) Redman; sisters-in-laws, Betty Marie Wildman and Jean Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews;  

Doyne was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Roxanne Brandenburg, a grandson, James Wildman; siblings, Harold Rex (Lorabel) Wildman, Walter V. Wildman; brothers-in-laws, Orvil Kilmer, Lloyd Thomas, Larry Summy, John Stooky and M.P. Hubbard; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Wildman; and sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Dale) Stevens.

Family and friends may gather on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Liberty Church of Christ, 102 S. Main St., Liberty. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Sean Tipton of the Hanna's Creek Christian Church officiating.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanna's Creek Christian Church; those can be done at the church on Saturday or mailed to 2584 E. Kitchel Rd., Liberty, Indiana 47353.
