Union County scored 12 runs on 17 hits to beat North Decatur, 12-8, last week to improve its season record to 5-1.

Starting pitcher Kyle Sams went three and a third innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out six and the sophomore short-stop hit a home run in the fifth inning to score two runs and tie the game at 6-6.

UC shut down the Chargers in the sixth inning and then went on a six-run rampage to win, 12-8. 

Third baseman Eric Burdine went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead UC, including a pair of doubles and Noah Taylor was 2-for-3.

Winning pitcher Mathew Wooley allowed 4 hits and three runs over 2-2/3 innings with four strikeouts and one walk.

The win improved Union County to 5-1. North Decatur dropped to 2-3.

Next Opponents
The Patriots are at Lawrenceburg on Tuesday, April 26  and return home to host Richmond April 27.
