WCT will be home to a pollinator garden
April 26, 2022 at 8:26 p.m.
The Whitewater Canal Trail is working on its latest project located on the trail near Yellow Bank Road, a pollinator garden.
“Our very generous donor inspired the pollinator garden," Shirley Lamb said. "It will be a memorial garden in honor of his late wife.”
A pollinator garden is a garden that is planted predominately with flowers that provide nectar or pollen for a wide range of pollinating insects.
The planting of the pollinator garden will begin in the late fall or early spring of 2023. Plantings will consist of native grasses and flowers, including butterfly weed, coneflower and baptisa.
One of the founders of the WTC, Gary Revischel, had a unique idea to have the garden in the shape of the WTC logo.
Access to the garden from the trail will be available upon completion.
