Family remembers Liberty man killed in crash Saturday

A family is devastated after a crash killed a man near Liberty on Saturday, while hoping this tragedy serves as a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving.
37-year-old David Marshall was a backseat passenger in a car traveling on U.S. 27 when it was suddenly rear-ended, sending the car airborne and head-on into a tree. Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the driver of the other vehicle, Brock Robinson, 22, of Richmond, was drunk and speeding at the time of the crash.
The mother of David Marshall says he had gotten himself back on the right path in life.
"He was working to get so much accomplished and his life was just getting started from where he came from," Vicky Greer said.
Marshall had become active in his church, was planning to go on a mission trip and was about to start his own construction business, the family said.
"He was my rock, he was always there and now he won't be there anymore and it is going to be really hard to go back home," his mother said.
His siblings are remembering him for his love of cooking and for always being there for the family.
"He was a really good uncle, a great uncle, he was with my kids every weekend and I spent every Friday with him. He cooked for me every Friday," said his sister, Krista Marshall.
While it is a heart-breaking time for the family, they hope this tragedy serves as a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving.
"This is the worst thing we've ever been through, all because somebody chose to get in a vehicle and drive," his brother Josh Marshall said. "We have to live with this the rest of our lives and he was just 37-years-old and now he is no longer with us. All I'm asking is please don't drink and drive."
A Go Fund Me fundraiser has been set up for Marshall, which you can find online. A visitation was held Wednesday and funeral services are being conducted today at Laurel Pentecostal Church.
Greer took time to thank the other passengers in the vehicle, Anthony and Donna Talbert, who had helped David through his journey the past few years. Anthony and Donna miraculously survived the crash.
