Union County handed  Northeastern an 11-0 five inning shutout last week at Johnny Welborn Field.

“Our hitting was outstanding. Hit the ball hard, had 11-12 hits, three home runs,” UC coach Scott Gray said. “They have some kids that can swing the bat, but Chloe was on her game tonight - only one hit.”

Union County’s seven runs in the first inning, one in the second and three in the third inning was all that was needed to win the TEC encounter.

Sophia Knock, Shelby Hill and Chloe Greene lead UC with 3-for-3 at the plate. Annalea Adams was 2-for-2 – that’s two home runs – one in the first inning and another in the third and Shelby Hill closed out the inning also with a homer.

Lady Patriot pitcher Chloe Greene gave up one hit, had 10 strike outs and two walks in five innings.

“It was a big conference win on a cold, windy night,” Gray said. “These girls really want to play. They really know what it’s all abut.”
