Union County was a few runners short at the Monroe Central invite last Saturday but UC coach Phil Cox is optimistic that the teams will grow soon.
“We only had one boy compete and four girls,” Cox said. “But we won’t have full teams this year.”
Sophomore Landon Klingman, seniors Marissa Young and Johannah Nelson, junior Haley Alcorn and Sophomore Rayn Story ran for UC at the MC Invitational.
“We had a planned pacing run Saturday which nearly all the kids nailed,” Cox explained. “It was a moral victory for the group and Johannah actually PR'd at our first meet of the season.”
UC times include... Klingman 26.06, Young 24:48, Nelson 24:53, Alcorn 27:43, Story 32.51.
“It’s really early, but I think the kids are going to have a great season!” Cox said.
