The UC girls cagers played four games in seven days, winning big at Monroe Central Saturday and home against Cambridge City Lincoln Tuesday on senior night but falling at Connersville Monday and dropping a low-scoring affair to Northeastern last Wednesday.
Lady Lions coming down home stretch
The Batesville Lady Bulldogs were never threatened in a Thursday conference matchup at Rushville’s Memorial Gymnasium, defeating the Lady Lions 59-31.
Bulldogs back to .500
Batesville shot out to a 15-2 lead Friday and although Franklin County got it back to a manageable 18-10 score at halftime, the visiting Wildcats largely scuffled against the Bulldog 2-3 zone as they fell to 0-6 in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference with a 51-36 loss.
Wildcats complete 1-2 week
The Franklin County Wildcats’ fifth win of the season came last Tuesday night in Osgood as the Cats held off Jac-Cen-Del’s Eagles by a 51-47 count.
Pats drop two games
Franklin County picked up its fourth win overall and second against a Tri-Eastern Conference opponent last Wednesday in a snow makeup game against visiting Union County.
Cats split two contests
The Wildcats led visiting East Central for about 30 minutes of action Saturday afternoon until the Trojans’ Cole Reynolds tied the game at 30 with 1:44 remaining.
Bulldog teams lose in Ripley finals
Between big area snow falls, the RCT boys opening night went on without a hitch Jan. 8 as Batesville pulled away late from pesky Jac-Cen-Del and host South Ripley topped Milan.

Air Jaisle & Co. subdue Lions
RUSHVILLE - Batesville’s Senior quarterback Will Jaisle passed for six touchdowns to four different receivers - four in the third quarter alone - and 360 yards Friday night at Rushville’s Hinshaw Field to hand the Lions a 55-20 defeat on homecoming night.
Volleyball team battles to start the year
