Union County’s slow start last week at Knightstown put the Patriots playing catch-up to the end.

The Panthers ran up an 11-5 first quarter lead, out-scored the Pats 11-9 in the second quarter and matched UC 12-12 in the third period. 

Knightstown held an eight-point, 34-26, advantage going into the final eight minutes that became 10, 12, 13-point spreads before UC’s final push trimmed the final  score down to 56-51.

“Our guys played with more of a sense of energy in the fourth quarter.  We scored 25, Knightstown 22,” Patriot coach Bobby Jones said.

A pair of Knightstown juniors led all scorers. Michael Roberson had 29 points and four rebounds and Brayden McDaniel 15 points.  

Union County scoring leaders Josh Klein’s 15 points and five rebounds, Gavin Davis 10 points and 3 rebounds, and Nate Watterson 10 points and one rebound.

TEC game Friday
After Tuesday’s 41-32 win over Morristown, the Patriots are at Hagerstown Friday, Dec. 9 in a TEC match-up and host Oldenburg Academy Dec. 13.
