Rita Jefferson

Rita Ellen Jefferson, 79, of West College Corner went home to be with her Lord Sunday morning, December 4, 2022 at her home.
She was born March 15, 1943 in St. Charles, Virginia to Lloyd Estep Sr. and Mary Kennedy Estep, and they moved to Bath for residence. At the age of 18, Rita moved to Ontario, California and worked at her aunt's restaurant. In 1976, she returned to the College Corner area and started working at Park Place Restaurant.
Later, Rita became the house mother at Miami University's Delta Upsilon Fraternity for 10 years as well as the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
She was a faithful member of College Corner Community Church, formerly known as Trinity Holiness Church. Known as a good cook, she helped with church dinners and other activities.
In her leisure, she enjoyed mushroom hunting, cooking, baking, and sewing. She also loved shopping, especially thrift shopping. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and enjoyed having tea parties for girls in her family. She loved reading to her grandkids.
Survivors include two children, Kathy Daugherty of Liberty and Richard (Susan) Jefferson Jr. of Harrison, Ohio; five grandchildren, Richard Jefferson III, Curtis Jefferson, Alyssa Flatt, Lindsey Flatt, and Alex Flatt; four great-grandchildren, Landon Gross, Jack Jefferson, Gracelynn Ellis, and Henry Jefferson; two siblings, Joe (Sandy) Estep of West College Corner and Diane (Frank) Keeler of Morning Sun, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lloyd Estep Jr. and James Estep, and her lifelong best friend Ruth Bowling.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at College Corner Community Church. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. that evening at the church. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rita to the College Corner Community Church.
