The Union County Patriots broke into the win column last week, handing Morristown a 41-23 setback at Roy E. Stevens Gymnasium. 

Led by senior Brad Meadows and junior Gavin Davis, the Patriots handed the Yellow Jackets the fourth loss of the season against one win.

Union County led by seven after the first quarter (11-4) and turned the pressure up a notch and limited the Jackets to five points – all from the free throw line. UC led 20-9 at halftime. 

After the break, scoring was a toss-up with the Yellow Jackets edging the Patriots, 8-7. Then in the fourth quarter showdown, Union County’s  double figures finish (14 pts.) to Morristown’s 6, put UC in the win column, and 1-3 season record. The Yellow Jackets fell to 1-4.

“Scoring tonight looks pretty good,” UC coach Bobby Jones said. “Defensively, we played in spurts.” The Patriots won on the rebound chart, 20-16. Josh Klein led with seven and 6’3” senior Jameson Palmer led the Jackets with 11 points and five rebounds.
