He was born on Aug. 29, 1955 in Rushville, to the late William Smith and JoAnn (Maple) Mantooth. Ronald was a 1973 graduate of Laurel High School. He married Janice (Brandenburg) Smith on June 14, 1975 and she survives. Ronald retired from Rolls-Royce after 23 years of service. He truly enjoyed family time and country rides in his ranger. Ronald enjoyed working and shooting his guns, hunting turkeys and deer. He loved quality time spent at the farm.
In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Ryan) Lykins of Avon; brother, David (Lora) Smith and half-brother, Steven (Missy) Smith; half-sister, Becky Bottoms Smith. He will also be missed by his two grandchildren, Olivia Williams and Sawyer Lykins. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents.
Services were held on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022 in Moster Mortuary, with Pastor Jeff Edwards presiding. Friends visited the family until the time of service in the mortuary. Burial was held in Hopewell Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, for Prion Disease- 3634 W. Market Street, Suite 110, Akron, Ohio 44333 in memory of Ron. He will be sadly missed by many family members and friends.
