“We didn’t play very well tonight,” UC coach Alex McCool said. “But we hit a couple of shots there at the end and a couple free throws there to win.”

Keaghan Coyle made a field goal to go ahead, 47-45, in the fourth quarter with four minutes yet to play. Austin Wollyung followed up with a bucket with 1:30 on the clock to keep UC in front, 49-47. Then the Yellow Jackets put UC at the charity stripe twice to close out the UC victory, 51-47.

The Pats’ long ball shooters took over after halftime, scoring 12 of the team’s 17 points on 3-point-shots. Wollyung and Ragen Bias made two 3’s each. Reece Watterson was good on one-of-two freebies before Coyle scored a three-point play on a 2-point field goal and free throw. Watterson closed out the quarter with one-of-two at the free throw line.

Both teams cooled off with single digit scoring (9-6) in the final eight minutes.
“We really have to pick it up on the defensive end for out next game (Franklin County). “McCool said. But we’re happy with the win. We’ll take a note from this and keep going.”

Morristown junior Nolan Laster finished with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead all scoring.

Bias, Wollyung and Mason Stewart paced the Patriots in double digits. Bias had 14 points, Wollyung 13 and Stewart 14. Stewart also led the team’s rebounding with 14.
