CONNERSVILLE – Among seven other schools with multiple gymnasts, if not full squads, Franklin County's Audrey Harper completed her sophomore campaign at the Connersville Sectional inside the CHS gymnasium Saturday.

Harper placed 10th out of 16 in the all-around competition after final scores were tabulated, her total of 31.65 shy of Rushville's Nova Tackett (34.475) in the sixth and final qualifying spot for regional.

The Wildcat athlete's best score of the day came in her final rotation, netting an 8.525 and 10th-place finish on the floor exercise as Black Sabbath's “Ironman” provided the soundtrack.

She had earlier secured an 8.15 on the vault to begin the day's events, though scores were generally higher on this apparatus and Harper's was good for 25th place.

The next event was uneven bars and the soph landed in the middle of the pack of competitors, earning a 7.675 from the table of judges (15th place).
Moving over to the balance beam, Harper didn't quite nail her ambitious mount and routine and slipped to 20th among all entrants on the beam. She was given a score of 7.3.

The Richmond Lady Red Devils, led by senior Elizabeth Ruger's sweeping all four events and the all-around (38.025), pulled away for the sectional title with an impressive 110.15. New Palestine was runner-up at 102.6 and the host Lady Spartans claimed the final berth to regional as their 99.775 was good for bronze.

Franklin Central plays host to regional, taking place Friday evening.
