Patriots Basketball– Eastern Hancock eliminates Patriots, 92-43

Northeastern slipped by Shenandoah 49-46 in overtime in the first game, and Knightstown upended Hagerstown, 55-47.
In the semi-final round, Northeastern defeated Knightstown, 53-40, and Eastern Hancock advanced to the championship game with an 80-40 win over Lincoln.
Eastern Hancock continued to dominate in the championship game, posting a 61-48 win over Northeastern. The Royals’ triple threat - juniors Silas Spaulding, Jacob Spaulding and senior Landon O’Neal - were the game’s leading scorers with 13, ll and 28 points, respectively.
The Royals opened with 15 markers in the first quarter and 13 in the second quarter and held the Knights to 13 total points over the first half.
NE warmed up with double figures in the second half but it was too little, too late.
Eastern Hancock (20-5) will play Southmont (19-6) at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Greenfield Central Regional. Triton Central (13-11) and University (15-9) play in the second game at noon.
Pats fall in Game 3
Eastern Hancock was all business when they stepped on the court with Union County. The Royals buried the Patriots, 92-43, to advance to the semi-final round and eventually won the Class 2A Sectional.
The Royals’ fast-paced, 3-point shooting game plan put the Patriots behind, 27-13, at the first quarter break from which they never recovered.
By the fourth quarter, EH doubled the score on the Pats, 75-34, and didn’t let up.
Four-of-five Royals’ starters finished in double figures and six Royals scored from behind the 3-point arc.
EH canned 11 three-point field goals, 26 two-pointers and were 7-of-11 at the free throw line.
Union County junior Mason Stewart led the Pats with 19 points and 8 rebounds.
