At the first competition in February, the Catz won 1st place in the kick (Ultimate Star) dance and added runners-up in the open (High Superior) and pom (Ultimate Star) categories and bronze in hip-hop (Ultimate Star).
The team was dominant a little later at Lawrenceburg, taking the Senior Grand Champion title, Judges Award in Best Show Design and Showmanship and sweeping all four categories – kick and pom (Ultimate Star) and open and hip-hop (High Superior).
Personal spotlights shone on Chloe Cowen and Audrey Sacksteder, the former becoming the first dancer in school history to win Dancer of the Day and the latter earning Captain of the Day.
At Batesville, FC took home first in open and kick (Ultimate Star), second in pom (Showcase Star) and third in hip-hop (Ultimate Star).
Compliments in the form of email were sent to athletic director Denny Dorrel after this event:
Dear Mr. Dorrel,
I attended my first dance competition at Batesville High School yesterday and was very impressed with the FC Dancz Catz. Their routines were very clean, well-executed, and full of energy. Equally impressive was their composure at awards when, unfortunately, the ratings did not reflect their efforts. My children attend Batesville schools, but we live in Franklin County. The dance team made Franklin County and Franklin County High School proud. Please forward these congratulations to the coach and team members.
Another Senior Grand Champion trophy was secured at a home invitational in late February. 1st-place awards were collected for kick (Ultimate Star), hip-hop (Ultimate Star) and Technique Award in open (Showcase Star); the girls were runner-up for pom (Ultimate Star).
