Excitement is building as the approaching 2022 Union County High School Art Show is two days away!
“We are so excited about hosting our first in-person art show since Covid,” Art Educator Mandi Reed said. “This year’s show is Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the high school auditorium lobby, adjacent hallways and inside the art room.”
Although this year’s show is slightly smaller than previous years, art pieces from all students who have taken art throughout the year will be on display.
There are several interactive artworks for everyone to participate in – including the “Before I Die” chalk wall (post-it note wall), photo booth and an inspirational talk video about Before I Die.
A Senior Art Exhibit featured students who have shown dedication and passion in the arts throughout their four-year high school careers. This year’s selected seniors are Morgan Ball, Annie Clarkston, Emma Cox and Zora Allstatter.
Reed had 101 art students working toward the May 4 deadline.
“We are collaborating with Kehila Coffee this year to display student artwork at the coffee shop beginning in May,” Reed said. “This year’s students took part in a Before I Die photo project which will be featured at Kehila Coffee Shop all summer. The sculpture class is working on a glass installation piece for the coffee shop and visitors attending the Art Show on Saturday, May 7, will have an opportunity to take a sneak peak at the glass piece.”
Many talented UCHS art students are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to intermingle with family, friends and community members who attend the two-hour show on Saturday, May 7.
