The Lady Patriots played back-to-back games last week, first at Monroe Central and then at Tri High. The outcome was a pair of wins to boost UC to 15-2. Monroe Central dropped to 3-12 and Tri 5-9. 

UC defeated MC by a 23-4 landslide in five innings. The Lady Pats came back the following night to shut out Tri, 18-0, in a wet, wet five innings.

At Monroe Central
The Lady Patriots opened with two runs in the first inning and two in the second to take a 4-0 lead into the third inning.

And what an inning – 18 UC batters stepped into the batter’s box in the marathon third inning. Fifteen scored.

The Lady Bears came back with a run in the bottom of the third, 2 runs in the fourth inning and one as the game came to an end in the fifth inning. 

Union County returned with two runs in the top of the fourth inning and two more in the fifth. Final tally – UC 23 runs, 17 hits, 8 errors. MC 4 runs, 5 hits 10 errors.

Kyleigh Payne, Bailey Mathews and Greene worked the circle for the Patriots. 

MC pitchers Aubey and Tessa Chester faced 45 batters, gave up a pair of doubles and a home run.

At Tri High
UC bats belted 16 hits off of Tri freshman pitcher Ann Bean, who pitched five innings and allowed 16 hits, 18 runs, along with 9 walks and 2 strike outs.

UC’s Chloe Greene was the winning pitcher who gave up one hit and fanned 13 batters.

UC shortstop Annalea Adams’ first inning home run with one on base was an early indication of a run-away victory. The Lady Pats followed up with seven total first inning.

The Lady Pats play in the Franklin County Invitational on Saturday, May 14, host Centerville Monday, May 16 and Milan Wednesday, May 18.
