Overholt reviewed Jones' 23 years of coaching experience including 14 as a varsity head coach, most recently Greenville High School in Ohio, although he spent a number of years coaching in UC's conference previously. Superintendent Aron Borowiak noted Jones' emphasis on student athletes' success in the classroom, not just on the basketball court.
Board secretary David Hofmann recognized Jones from his work on the court as an official, specifically while coaching for Tri-Village High School. Jones replied he coached there for one year, as well as 10 years at Hagerstown High School and four years at Winchester Community High School.
Hofmann welcomed Jones to the district and asked about feeder programs. Jones learned of the importance of a feeder program at Winchester, knowledge he used to build a program in Hagerstown and plans to bring to Union County. While at Hagerstown, he helped start the Dirt Road Basketball League, to which he is excited to return.
