Two days after the Franklin County Invitational, the Union County Lady Patriots took care of Tri-Eastern Conference business this week at Johnny Welborn Field in Liberty. Union County’s 6-1 win over Centerville this week gives the Lady Pats an unblemished 8-0 TEC season and a 23-2 overall record.

“That has been part of our goal - win the conference and go on to win the sectional, etc.,” UC coach Scott Gray said. “It’s nice to win the conference outright.”

Junior pitcher Chloe Greene pitched the 3-hit TEC title game. Her stats show 16 strikeouts and one walk.

Against the Lady Dogs this week, UC finished with 6 runs on 8 hits and 6 left on base.

Centerville’s one run came on 3 hits and 6 left on base.

UC spread their scoring around - one run in the first inning, 3 in the third, one in fourth and one in the fifth.

The Lady Bulldogs did not get on the scoreboard until the top of the seventh inning.

Union County stays busy this week with Milan visiting on Wednesday and UC at Connersville on Saturday. Then it is the IHSAA Class 2A Softball Sectional at Union County  beginning Monday, May 23 with Union County and Shenandoah playing in game one at 6 p.m.
