The Lady Wildcats' softball team (21-7) secured a round one win in Monday's home sectional matchup with Lawrenceburg, defeating the Lady Tigers 6-2.

   FC started the game by putting up a run in the first and another in the second inning. Michaela Ferman kept the Lady Tigers' bats at bay for the first four innings. Lawrenceburg was able to plate a run in the top of the fifth inning on an error. 

   The Lady Cats added another run in the bottom half of the inning when Kassidy Schell earned an RBI, knocking in Kiersten Schell and putting FC back up by a score of 4-1. In the sixth frame, the Lady Tigers scored another run with Rylee Held getting an RBI double. Ferman finished the inning striking out two Lawrenceburg batters and stranding the runner on base. Anne Becker picked up her second and third RBIs of the evening in the Wildcat sixth, knocking in two Lady Cat teammates with a hard-hit ball. 

   The Lady Cats sent Lawrenceburg home after a quick seventh inning. Kassidy Schell made a great catch in left field for the second out of the inning and Ferman finished off Aubrie Hutcherson on four pitches to earn her tenth strikeout of the game and her 14th win on the season. 

   The Schell twins each had a pair of hits with Kassidy getting a triple. Maci Lake and Brooke Stang had stolen bases. Maci McAdams had 2 hits for LHS. Haylee Palmer took the loss.

   The Lady Cats will be back in action for round two on Thursday. They will face the Rushville Lady Lions at 6 p.m. 

Last week
To end the regular season, FC dropped a 12-6 decision to East Central last Tuesday and posted a 6-0 shutout of Greensburg Thursday.

EC scored nine times after the fourth. Freshmen Karlie Davis and Anna Black had 4 and 3 RBI, respectively. Kensee Ferman knocked in 2 for FC while Lake, Bailey Kaiser and Stang drove in single runs. Ki. Schell had 2 hits. Stang had 2 steals with Ki. Schell and Tiffany Billman swiping 1 each. M. Ferman took the loss, fanning 8 in 5.1 innings. Bree Bischoff also threw.

FC had 2-run innings in the first and fifth. K. Ferman (homer) and Bischoff each drove in 2. Josie Rolfes had 3 hits while Lake (double, steal) and K. Ferman had 2 each. Becker smashed a solo homer. M. Ferman tossed the 4-hitter, punching out 9.
