Union County Lady Patriots’ basketball team held a scrimmage with Richmond last week at Roy E. Stevens Gymnasium. The outcome? A good showing by the Lady Pats...Union County outplayed the Lady Red Devils all over the court in five quarters.

“Overall, I was pleased,” UC coach Scott Gray said. “These ladies play hard and I think they will be okay this season.”

Of the 13 girls out this season, three are seniors, one junior, six sophomores and one freshman.

Gray and the Lady Patriots are optimistic, working hard and excited to get going.

“We looked good offensively,” Gray said. “And these girls are good on defense.”

Union County is coming off a 12-9 season and 4-4 in the Tri-Eastern Conference.

“We’ve got the best of the best girls playing – great kids and they have been fun to be around.”

Union County girls basketball, as always, will be competitive and fun to watch this season. Show your support - come to a game.
