Good Senior Night but Titans win 35-7

The Tri High Titans spoiled Senior Night at Curry/Phenis Field, 35-7, last Friday night.

“The score didn’t resemble what we wanted, but we had them in tough spots but allowed them to capitalize,” UC coach Joel Hofmann said.

The Titans are 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the Tri-Eastern Conference. They are coming off last year’s semi-state run with many players returning this season including a 6’3”, 220 lb. running back. Senior Parker Burk scored two touchdowns - one in the first quarter, another in the fourth quarter and a total of 176 rushing yards and 47 receiving yards in between.

The Patriots found themselves in a 14-0 hole at halftime and 21-zip in the third quarter before Topher Fritts scored on a 61-yd. touchdown pass from Michael Eversole on a third-and-seven play. Rhett Hollen added the PAT kick with UC fans on their feet and celebrating in the stands.

“They (Tri) have rolled through all but one team in the conference and I felt like we played them tough tonight.” Hofmann said.

“They have run the ball really well all year and have a huge back,” Hofmann said.

Football Sectional 38
The IHSAA Class 2A Sectional 38 first round brings Eastern Hancock to Curry/Phenis Field Friday, October 21. Game time is 7 p.m.

“Eastern Hancock is a solid program that will look to spread us out but run the ball with a talented back,” Hofmann said. “And their defense will employ a lot of speed to try to disrupt our offense.”

With UC hosting Sectional 39, it gives our seniors one more shot on our own field.

“I think they’ll cherish that opportunity,” Hofmann added.
