Pirates shut out Wildcats in elimination game

Tuesday night, Oct. 4, the Greensburg Pirates and the Wildcats traveled to Batesville to face off in the first round of soccer sectional play. The Pirates ended up winning with a score of 8-0. To start off the match, both teams had great opportunity to score but neither could find the back of the net. Junior captain Adam Underhill got the scoring started for Greensburg roughly 20 minutes into the half. A foul in the box on Ethan Smith led to a Pirate penalty kick, which was taken, and made by Cy Miller. With 30 seconds left in the first half, Miller scored his second goal of the game off the assist from John Robbins.
Second half started where the first half left off when freshman Smith scored within the first three minutes of the half off a beautiful left-footed shot. Miller recorded two second-half assists, the first going to Underhill (his second goal of the game) and his second going to Robbins. Junior Hunter Springmeyer added a goal to the scoresheet off a Robbins assist. Miller finished the second half with a goal off the assist from Underhill. Goalkeeper Braylon Hahn finished the game with 9 saves for the Pirates and the rest of the defense contributed to the shutout, the 3rd of the season for the Pirates.
Franklin County has two seniors that are graduating, Braden Eggleston and Adam Mace!
