Union County School golf teams were both in  competition on April 12 at the  Liberty Country Club. The middle school team completed an after school practice and the high school Patriots were host to Centerville.

Union County Middle School was keeping in shape after handing Connersville a 197-233 setback on April 11. UC’s Jackson McCashland and Lane Crumley finished with 47 rounds to tie for medalist honors.

Other UCMS scores include Melanie Goecke 58, Aubrey Beck 52, Rhett Logue 54, Brody Lackey 51, Hazel Henke 60, and Jackson Mauller 59.

According to UCMS coach Nathan Beck, “The course was in excellent shape and the teams enjoyed beautiful weather during the nine-hole match.”

The Centerville Bulldogs pulled away with a 175-202 win over the Patriots. Gage Tipton led UC with a 42. Centerville was led by Brady Moore’s 36.

Other UC varsity scores include Rhett Hollen 58, Carson Whitley 52, Peyton Torres 60, Kameryn Reuss 50.

UC and Centerville also put their JV teams on the course but a team score was not available due to Centerville’s incomplete team.

Other UC junior varsity scores include...Landen Strait, 51, Tim Lawson 56, Keegan Lathery 56, Grant Cox 63,Thatcher Coffman 50, Nathaniel Tolford 62, Aaron Herring 58, Joshiah Holman 66, Teratin Goecke 66.

It is a good year for high school golf if number of players are an indicator. Coach Neck has 20 young people on the middle school team. High school coach Andrew McCashland has more young men out this year than he can recall: fourteen total, including seven freshmen and seven seniors.

The boys fell to Richmond last Thursday, 173-191. The Red Devils' Ryder Cate was medalist with a tidy 37.

Next match-ups
Union County Middle School golfers are at Lincoln on Tuesday, April 25, and at Franklin County MS Thursday, April 27.
The high school Patriots  host Northeastern Wednesday, April 26.

The Patriots will play in the Winchester Invitational on Prom Night, Saturday, April 29.
