UC baseball was 3-2 a week ago but the past four games have not been kind. Thursday UC fell to Northeastern after leading until the final inning. Saturday UC was swept in a DH by Franklin Co. (11-1, 10-5), and Tuesday Connersville posted a 12-1 win over the Patriots. Tonight at Union City starts another four-game run (all away).

UC racked up 11 hits against NE. An Eric Burdine single scored Logan Boone and Kyle Sams to put the Pats up 2-1 in the first. Sams gave up a single then walked a NE batter in the third. A single in the next at-bat knocked in both Knights' baserunners and UC was down a run. Devyn Shepherd led off the bottom of the third inning with a single and Sams blasted a double to centerfield that scored Shepherd. Brady Woeste and Shepherd each later picked up an RBI and the Pats led 5-3. Mathew Wooley walked a batter in the top of the fifth inning; NE scored on an error and the game was 5-4 in UC's favor. The game remained in UC's favor until the seventh. Two UC errors allowed baserunners for the Knights and a hard-hit ball to the outfield, along with another error, scored both runners. Bottom of seven, Boone reached on an error, Sams singled, Burdine moved the runners with a sac bunt and Mason Stewart drew a walk to load the bases. UC hit into a double play to end the game. Sams went 3 innings, with 4 strikeouts, and allowed 3 runs. Wooley tossed 4 innings, allowed 3 runs and finished with 3 strikeouts. Sams, Woeste, and Stewart all doubled in the game. Burdine led UC with 2 RBI.

Stewart was on the mound for game 1 Saturday; FC roasted him for 9 hits and 11 runs in 2.2 innings. Shepherd's hit led to a UC run in the first. UC also scored first in game 2; Stewart's double scored Boone. Avery Harrison was on the hill for the Cats and held UC scoreless over the next three frames. Gavin Davis, Boone and Coleton Wicker later had RBI doubles. Burdine took the loss.

Stewart took the mound Tuesday. Shepherd started the game off with a single, but the Pats couldn't score. The score stood 3-0 until the top of the fifth inning when CHS added six. UC finally added a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 9-1 game, when Sams singled scoring Shepherd. Stewart went 5 innings with 2 strikeouts, a walk and allowed 9 runs in the loss.
