Union County track and field had three second-place team finishes recently. The girls were runner-up at Waldron's Mohawk Invitational April 8 (111 to Switzerland Co.'s 114) while both sides took 2nd to Monroe Central at Union (Modoc) Monday. The Lady Pats were edged 89-88 while MC outscored UC's boys 100-80. The boys placed 4th at Waldron (66) as Blue River won with 106.

Logan Harris won long jump Saturday (18 ft., 7 in.). Also winning were Libby Page in high jump (4-8), Peyton Shepler in discus (76-1), Katie McCashland in the 100-meter dash (13.82 sec.) and long jump (15-3.25) and the 4x800 girls relay (Haley Alcorn, Ellie Peters, Marissa Young, Johanna Nelson; 12:53.86).

At Union, Ty Elleman won 300 hurdles (46.14), Harris the long jump (18-1), McCashland the 100 (13.7), 200 (28.22) and long jump (15-5), Landon Pearson the 400 (56.14), Hailey Ferris shot put (28-9), Page the high jump (5-1) and Carly McCashland the 400 (1:10.59). Relay wins were girls 4x100 (McCashlands, Alcorn, Lexi Brashears; 57.2), boys 4x400 (Caden Coffman, Brad Meadows, Elleman, Wyatt Pearson; 4:05.26) and boys 4x800 (Elleman, Jack Hodgkin, Meadows, Jared Grissom; 11:52.89).

2nd-place finishes: Hodgkin (1600; 6:21.03) and 3200 (13.44.56), Meadows (HJ; 5-6), Nick Watterson (shot; 42-5) and disc (109-4), Shepler (disc; 79-1), Brooklyn Vauthier (shot; 28-5 & 29-11), Brashears (LJ; 13-4.5), Kiera Curry (3200; 15:23.03), Elleman (300 H; 45.46), boys 4x800 (Coffman, Meadows, Hodgkin, Elleman; 10:12.29), K. McCashland (200; 28.21).

3rd: L. Pearson (200; 26.0) and 400 (58.17), Landon Klingman (3200; 14:32.39), Grissom (1600; 6:24.38), Watterson (disc; 117-8) and shot (37-9), Young (400; 1:13.51) and 800 (3:07.9), Nelson (3200; 14:33.87 & 15:26.96), boys 4x400 (Coffman, Elleman, Meadows, L. Pearson; 3:57.51), Meadows (HJ; 5-8), Curry (1600; 6:47.04), girls 4x100 (McCashlands, Kelsie Coyle, Brashears; 57.34), Ferris (shot; 28-9).

4th: girls 4x400 (C. McCashland, Alcorn, Peters, Young; 5:12.18), C. McCashland (400; 1:11.24), boys 4x100 (Coffman, Xander Garwood, Devin Hill, Harris; 48.71).

5th: L. Pearson (800; 2:29.25), Bo Tidrow (shot; 35-7), Young (800; 3;11.36). 6th: Brashears (LJ; 12-3.5), Peters (1600; 7:36.66), Alcorn (800; 3:15.64), Young (400; 1:14.58).

Vs. Centerville last Thursday, UC's girls were outscored by the Bulldogs 82-41.

UC visits Tri this evening.
