Union County won back-to-back games last week and didn’t give up a run. The Lady Patriots traveled to Northeastern on Wednesday and played at home on Thursday. Union County shut out the Lady Knights, 8-0, and returned back home to beat Oldenburg Academy, 15-0, in five innings.

Union County got off to a good start at NE with a run in the third inning, and finished up adding runs in the final three innings. The Pats’ decider inning was the fifth when four runs completed the circle of bases and the score went to 5-0.Two runs went up in the sixth inning and one more in the top of the seventh inning.

The Lady Knights were scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to end the game, 8-0, in Union County’s favor.

Bailey Mathews went the distance on the mound giving up 2 hits, and 13 strikeouts.

Back home on Johnny Welborn Field, the Oldenburg Lady Twisters were no match for the Lady Patriots. 

Oldenburg was scoreless in the first inning and each remaining inning before the 10-run rule took over to declare a 15-0 Union County victory after five innings.

Ally Gray led off with a two-base hit and stretched it to three and scored UC’s first run in the game. 

Four consecutive walks loaded the bases with Harley Pilgrim, AnnaLea Adams, Shelby Hill and Mathews and all four scored. The Lady Pats’ 5-0 first inning lead was followed by three-up-and-3 down when UC pitcher Kaiyd Burroughs fanned the Twisters in order.

The Lady Patriots’ second at bats turned the second inning into a marathon inning when 14 Lady Pats went the plate and came away with 9 runs.
Overall UC scored 15 runs on 8 hits. A good UC win to improve to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the Tri-Eastern Conference.

The Lady Pats defeated visiting Lawrenceburg Tuesday, 7-3, after building a 4-3 advantage after four innings. Adams had three hits and an RBI to lead the offense. Gray knocked a triple and Pilgrim a double (2 RBI). Mathews added an RBI. Adams, Hill and Whitney King each swiped a base. Mathews went the distance, walking just one and fanning 14 Tigers.
