Jordan Takara is headed to the IHSAA New Castle Semi-state round this weekend with the 160 lb. Richmond Regional Champion title  tucked under his belt.

Takara whizzed through the winning bracket undefeated in three matches to stand at the top of the podium honoring the best in the class.

The UC senior began with a second round 20-2 tech fall over Northeastern’s Thane Berger. Takara then won a 7-6 decision over Luke Cannarella of Centerville. In the championship match Takara earned a 6-4 decision over Franklin County senior Hayden Newell.

Takara was one of five Patriot westlers who qualified for regional competition...

•120 lbs. – Landon Myers was pinned by Bryson Hale of Centerville in 3:52.  
•126 lbs. – Jesus Aquino-Morales pinned Lincoln sophomore Aidan Capps in the first match (1:18). Morales fell to New Castle freshman Tylin Thrine (3:03).
•132 lbs. – Carson Whitley lost a 12-2 decision to Cameron Volz, Eastern Hancock.
•145 lbs. – Evan Wolf fell to Centerville in 3:44.
•160 lbs. – Champion Jordan Takara.

 Takara and Aquino-Morales will wrestle in the  New Castle Semi-state (Chrysler Fieldhouse) this Saturday, Feb. 11.
