The Lincoln Golden Eagles handed Union County a 62-45 setback last week at Roy E. Stevens Gymnasium in Liberty. 

The Patriots stayed with the Eagles through the first quarter but fell behind by six, 16-10, at the first break.

UC remained competitive in the second period when the Eagles found Nick Watterson difficult to control all over the court. The UC 6-3 freshman finished with a game-high 23 points and 8 rebounds. Watterson didn’t get going until back-to-back buckets (a 2-pt. & 3-pt.) ripped the net in the opening moments of the second half.  

Lincoln’s starting line-up included four seniors led by 6’6” Logan Vance who led the Eagles with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Tyler Wyles had 19 and Aiden Munchel 12.

UC came back in the third  period to outscore the Eagles 16-11 and the Eagles returned to better UC 20-14 in the final eight minutes.

Next opponent
Union County was host to Northeastern this past Tuesday, losing 60-28, and will host North Decatur tomorrow night, Friday, Feb. 10.
UC is at East Central Tuesday.
