CONNERSVILLE - The Lady Patriots handed the Lady Spartans their fourth loss in a row last Wednesday. Connersville couldn't find an answer for Union County's Shelby Hill. The UC senior center put up a double-double, and with 16 points, she led all scorers in the 37-19 blowout. CHS' previous low-point total of the season was 28 in a loss to Mt. Vernon.

Union County came out firing on all cylinders with Hill knocking down the first basket of the game. Hailey Sembach tied the game at 2-2 with a CHS basket, then UC went on a tear with Ally Gray scoring and Brooke Fields connecting from deep, putting UC up 7-2. Sembach hit another shot in the period for the Lady Spartans, but Hill finished off the first quarter with a trip to the line and another field goal, increasing the Lady Pats' lead to nine.

The score after one period was 13-4 in favor of Union County.

The second frame went in Connersville's favor with Abbie Schwartz scoring four points and McKenna Lucas getting two. The Lady Pats managed just two field goals in the period and the halftime score was 17-10 with UC still firmly in the lead.

The second half theme for Connersville was the same as the first, "Iron Unkind." The Lady Spartans managed just two field goals in the third frame as the Lady Patriots went on an 11-2 run throughout the quarter. Addison Jones stopped the run as the quarter ended with a steal and a coast-to-coast layup, making the score 28-14 with one quarter remaining.

UC came out strong in the fourth period, starting out on a 5-0 run before a pair of Sembach free throws halted the Lady Pats' momentum with three minutes to go. Union County gained it right back and added four more points, increasing their lead to 21. Sara Ruble hit a field goal and Sembach collected another freebie to end the game, but it was too little and too late as the Lady Pats earned the 18-point road victory.

Connersville- Sembach 9, Schwartz 4, Ruble 2, Lucas 2, Jones 2
Union County- Hill 16, Peityn Gillman 6, Fields 5, Gray 5, Carly McCashland 3, Katie McCashland 2
