Lady Patriots wrap up 48-34 TEC win

Union County added TEC win #2 and 10th win overall in a 48-34 primetime performance over Union City last Saturday.
The Lady Pats rolled up a 5-0 lead before the Lady Indians lit up the scoreboard with one-of-two from the charity stripe. UC senior Shelby Hill was hot in the first quarter, canning four baskets including a beat the buzzer bucket to end the first quarter, 18-8.
Union County remained on course with the offense adding 15 markers in the second quarter and defensively UC kept the Lady Indians in line via multiple turnovers.
Three-pointers set the pace throughout the game with Ally Gray nailing Union County’s first trey after the opening tip-off. Peityn Gillman started the second quarter with a three-pointer and Brooke Fields hit a trey to begin the second half.
The Lady Patriots never trailed and Union City trailed by as much as 20 early in the second half and Hill working on her game-high 19 points, 6 rebounds and a steal or two.
Sophomore Oaklee Reichard had 14 points and freshman Emily Evans 10 to lead Union City.
The Lady Patriots stay home this Saturday, Jan. 21 to host Daleville (varsity only) at 3 p.m. The following week the Lincoln Golden Eagles visit UC on Tuesday evening, Jan. 24.
