March 29, 2023 at 6:56 p.m.
Union County alum Chloe Greene is continuing her softball career as a freshman at Radford University in Virginia. Her current record is 1-5 with the Highlanders, who are 8-17 on the season. Don't let the five losses fool you, Greene is still painting the corners with her fastball. Currently she sits in second on Radford's pitching staff in strikeouts with 15, three coming in her last start against Winthrop where she tossed six innings, only giving up one walk and three hits. Greene has five starts and 35.2 innings pitched in the circle this season; she picked up a save in her first collegiate appearance, giving Radford a 3-0 win. The Highlanders have had trouble scoring runs this season and are currently on a five-game losing skid. Radford competes in the NCAA's Division 1 as members of the Big South Conference. Radford games are occasionally available on ESPN+, the season ends on May 6, with the Big South Tournament starting on May 11.
Greene's name sits at number one in the Union County records with 20 wins twice (2021,2022) and second and third in strikeouts with 263 in '21 and 235 in '22. She was a two-time ALL-TEC pitcher for UC with two sectional wins and a regional win in 2021.
