Knightstown wins TEC game and one more

By Vivian Risch-

Last Saturday was not good baseball weather, but Knightstown didn’t let the cold and wind bother them. Instead, they went about their business of winning the double-header at Bill Webb Field. The Panthers  won the first game, 15-5, and did a repeat performance in the second game to the tune of 12-6.

The Patriots led instantly when Devyn Shepherd sent the first pitch over the left field fence to get things going. Logan Boone followed up with a triple before the Patriots first out. Next in line was Eric Burdine’s double and plenty of time for Boone to cross home plate. Knightstown pitcher Camden Gorman finished the inning with back-to-back strikeouts.

The Panthers failed to alter UC’s first inning lead score, but the Pats added two runs in the top of the second inning (2 runs on two hits 2 walks and a pair od strikeouts put UC up, 4-0.

The Panthers fought back, scoring 3 runs on two hits and left two runners on base and still trailed by one (4-3).

UC added one more  run before the Panthers broke it open with six runs in the fifth inning, one in the sixth and 4 in the seventh inning.
