Lady Pats get victory

Union County girls track and field picked up a win last Thursday with 66 points to Rushville's 59. The Patriot boys were third (32) as Rushville won with 79.
Katie McCashland won the 100 (13.3 seconds) and long jump (15 ft-.75 in) and joined Carly McCashland, Haley Alcorn and Lexi Brashears in taking the 4x100 m relay (55.4). Libby Page was first in high jump (4-8) and Marissa Young same in the 800 (2:53.1); Johanna Nelson got a win in the 3200 (14:36.3). Peyton Shepler easily won discus (92-7). For the boys, Ty Elleman claimed first in 300 hurdles (45 s.) and Brad Meadows, Landon Pearson, Devan Hill and Elleman crossed first in the 4x400 (3:46.8).
Pearson was runner-up in the 400 (56 s.), Logan Harris in long jump (18-11.75), C. McCashland in the 400 (1:08.3), Nelson in the 1600 (6:29), Page in 100 hurdles (19.5), Kelsie Coyle in 300 H (1:01.9).
Getting bronze were Jared Grissom (1600; 5:52.8), Nick Watterson in discus (122-11) and shot put (38-2), Alcorn (400; 1:11.5), Ellie Peters (800; 3:15.4), Hailey Tidwell (300 H; 1:08.3), Brashears (LJ; 13-9), Brooklyn Vauthier (shot; 28-2).
In fourth were Harris (100; 12.3), Xander Garwood (200; 25 s.), Wyatt Pearson (3200; 13:38), Coyle (100 H; 21.4), Hailey Grimes (discus; 72-4).
At Hagerstown's Tiger Booster Invitational Friday, UC's girls were seventh (57) and boys ninth (40.5); the hosts won both ends.
K. McCashland won the long jump event with a leap of 15-3. She added a third in the 100 (13.37). The girls 4x100 team placed third (54.85) and Watterson was third in shot put (40-4).
The TEC meet is this evening.
