The Union County Lady Patriots' track and field team advanced two athletes from sectional last week. Both girls competed at this year's regional at Franklin Community High School. On Tuesday evening Libby Page, a senior at UCHS, competed in the high jump and finished in 12th place with a jump of 4-8. Katie McCashland was the other Lady Pat to advance on from sectionals. McCashland competed in the long jump and her season best jump of 15-10.25 was good enough to earn the sophomore eighth place in the competition.

Of note, Connersville freshman Ahniyah Bennett won both the 100 (12.03) and 200-meter (25.28) dashes at regional to set up a shot at the state title.

The boys season came to an end last Thursday at the sectional in Connersville. Landon Pearson earned fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.6. Ty Elleman's time of 45.34 in the 300-meter hurdles earned him eighth place. Bradley Meadows' high jump mark of 5-6 earned him eighth. Logan Harris earned ninth in the long jump with a jump of 18-1.5, and the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams each earned eighth place at the sectional. The boys team as a whole finished in 10th place with eight points. Connersville edged out Richmond 144-142 to win the team competition.
