The Shenandoah Raiders defeated Union County,4-0, in the second game of the 2023 IHSAA Boys Baseball Sectional at Northeastern last week. 

No score in the first inning, the Raiders sent five batters to the plate in the second inning and scored a run. Ditto in the third inning and Shenandoah went out front, 2-0. 

Two innings later, the Raiders scored two runs on three hits, two walks and an error.  The score jumped to 4-0 that held through the final two innings.
The Shenandoah senior pitchers finished with 12 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Patriot starting pitcher Kyle Sams issued three walks and fanned four Raiders before Mathew Wooley came to the mound in the fifth inning.

Extra base hits were few in number - Sams hit a double to right field and Josh Klein hit to center field to get to second base.

Shenandoah went on to defeat Northeastern, 3-2, in  the next round and put the Raiders in the championship game on Memorial Day, May 29.

Hagerstown defeated Shenandoah 2-1; the Tigers move on to the Park Tudor Semi-State to face Heritage Christian.
