Lady Cats runners-up in EIAC

Trailing only Batesville – state finalists the last two seasons – Franklin County's girls golf team earned second place at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet Saturday at Greensburg County Club.
Seniors Crystal Calihan (80) and Nicole Mears (81) were all-EIAC as they finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively. BHS' Ava South repeated as MVP with 70. The Bulldogs' 321 was comfortably ahead of FC's 359, which was a season-low 18-hole score for the Cats. East Central was 3rd (394). Additionally, Lillie Graf had an even 100, Jacy Grimmeissen 97 and Emma Tolhurst 107.
Monday the Cats knocked off Union County and Connersville. FC scored 180 to UC's 182 and CHS' 223. Calihan's 9-hole score was 38, followed by Mears' 40, Graf's 49 and 53 for both Grimmeissen and Tolhurst.
The ladies are at Batesville's Hillcrest Thursday ahead of the IHSAA sectional back at Greensburg Saturday morning.
