Earnest Gene Hodge, age 69, of Brookville passed peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.
Born December 22, 1954 in Cincinnati he was the son of the late Lou and Dorothy J. (Fagin) Hodge. On October 25, 1980 he was united in marriage to the former Gail Ann Watkins, and she preceded him in death on March 5, 2016.
Gene was retired, having worked for much of his life as a painter. In his leisure time he enjoyed baseball, and coached Babe Ruth League for many years in Franklin County. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two children, Stephanie Rouse of Shelbyville and Bill (Julie) Hodge of Metamora; a sister, Debbie Watkins of Brookville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, and wife, Gail, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Family and friends may visit from 9 till 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Roy VanWinkle will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, burial will then follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
