After just missing out on a team state final appearance last fall, the Batesville Lady Bulldogs upped their game Monday at Franklin’s Legends Golf Club to place runner-up in regional play and move on to the IHSAA championship rounds at Carmel’s Prairie View this weekend. It’s the third trip to the finals for BHS in the last four years.
The Bulldogs put pressure on the home course team, falling just shy of the Franklin Lady Grizzly Cubs – 319-321. Center Grove also advanced with 327. East Central was 10th (404) while boasting the regional MVP in Rowan Pies (68) and Greensburg shot 455 to place 13th.
Junior Ava South led the Dogs’ 2nd-place effort with a 72, good for third overall behind Floyd Central’s Paige Giovenco. Senior Addyson Weiler came in at 78, Zoey Ahern 82, Alexis Gallagher 89 and Grace Saner 105.
Franklin’s Lexi Ray carded 74 and Magnolia Miller of CG 75. Joining Giovenco and Pies as advancing individuals is Corydon Central’s Emma Rowland (76). Annie Hoff (94) and Audrey Mears (107) of Franklin County also competed at the event that was postponed from Saturday due to weekend weather.
The finals begin Friday, 8:30 a.m. and continue Saturday at the same time for a total of 36 holes. Tickets at $15 each are good for both days and available digitally at Eventlink. Fans can follow the tourney’s progress at bluegolf.com.
