Franklin County and Batesville battle in track

The Lady Wildcats were able to secure seven wins while the Wildcat boys brought home five.
FC had the top two spots in boys shot put and long jump, adding victories in the 4x100-meter relay, discus and the 100m dash. The girls’ wins came in both the 4x100 and 4x800 relays, along with the 300 hurdles, the 200, shot, the 800 and 1600.
Grace Kruthaupt won 300 hurdles and Bailey Parkhurst shot. Lauren Kelley was victorious in both the 800 and 1600. In the girls 200, freshman Audrey Harper leaned over the finish line to beat BHS’ Elena Kuisel in a photo finish.
Jacob Schatzle triumphed in the 100 with a personal record, adding a win in the long jump pit. Sam Westerfeld was first in shot and had a PR in the 100.
The Cats had no entries in either of the 3200 runs; Batesville also swept the ribbons in girls high jump and the 400, as well as boys pole vault, both hurdles events and the 800 and 1600 runs.
Other FC personal bests included Adam Grant in the 1600 and pole vault, Tyreke Carr in the 200 and a 4x400 split of 53.9 seconds, Drew Grant’s 4x400 split, Denver Meier in the 400, Harmon Marshall in the 400 and a 4x800 split, Clayton Bolser in shot and discus, Lucas Stacy in high jump and Lauren Seibert in pole vault. Chad Cox cleared six feet in high jump, tying him for 5th in school record books.
Batesville blue ribbons went to Carley Pride-high jump (4'8"); Kaylie Raver-400 (1:04.41); Lily Pinckley-3200 (12:28); Adam Hollowell-3200 (11:02.09); boys 4x400 relay (Eli Pierson, Benjamin Moster, Gabe Gunter, JJ Kuisel); girls 4x400 (Raver, Madelyn Pohlman, Pride, Katie Olsen); boys 4x800 (Kuisel, Ean Loichinger, Daren Smith, Moster); Ella Moster-100 hurdles (18.67pr); Katie Bedel-pole vault (8-6pr) and discus (82-2); B. Moster-1600 (4:43.69) and 800 (2:05.88), both PRs; Gunter-high jump (6-5) and pole vault (11 ft.), both PRs; Kuisel-400 (50.1) and 200 (22.81), both PRs; Lily Meyer-long jump (14-2) and 100 dash (13.19pr); and Deacon Hamilton-110 hurdles (16.44) and 300 hurdles (43.98), both PRs.
At Lafayette Jefferson
Many of the FC athletes made the trip to an invitational Friday hosted by Lafayette Jefferson High.
Some highlights were Kruthaupt’s PRs in the 200 (27.49) and 100, D. Grant’s PR in the 400 (53.88), Schatzle’s PR in the 100 (11.22), Carr’s PR in the 100 and the boys 4x100 team of Westerfeld, Carr, Schatzle and D. Grant running the 5th-fastest time in FC history.
The South Dearborn Invitational is Thursday.
