The Franklin County boys golf team opened its 2021 campaign April 17 at the Richmond Invitational, placing 14th overall.

The Wildcats posted a score of 416 with senior Adam Kelly low at 101. Kaden Erfman was next at 103 and both Josh Bauman’s and Peyton McCreary’s 106 cards were scored. Austin Hill was FC’s fifth golfer, coming in at 108.

The team was fourth among four at a meet hosted by Brook Hill April 19.

Batesville won with 171 and Connersville was at 172; Oldenburg Academy came in at 177 while the hosts were at 189. Medalist was CHS senior Jonah Graham, firing a 2-over 37. Hill paced FC at 44 with Kelly shooting 46. Freshman Drew Meyer shot 49, followed by Bauman (50), McCreary (51) and Erfman (53).

Senior No. 1 Dean Campbell fired 39 to lead the winning Bulldogs.
OA brought six golfers to Brook Hill, led by senior Drew Wagner’s 41. Brother Brett was at 43 while Jack Seaver and Jon Grieshop turned in a 46 and 47, respectively. Ben Ruter toured in 55 strokes and Brendon Imel shot 65. Another notable was Connersville sophomore Cooper Kinney finishing at 40.

The Cats competed in a 3-way meet Thursday at The Links at Rising Star Casino. FC was three shots back of winning SD (177-180). Co-medalists were the Knights’ Eli Hoffman and Austin Thies (39).
FC visits East Central Thursday.
