UCCA golf scramble a rousing success

The UCCA sponsorships brought in about half that total; along with several side games they held, and the 829 balls sold for the golf ball drop, the event was a huge success. Brian Grissom won the golf ball drop, along with $500, and donated his winnings back to the UCCA. Ted Sanford took 2nd and won $250 while Lowell Rathburn got 3rd and won the $100 prize.
Because the UCCA had a lack of volunteers, they were not able to hold the 5K run that is run in conjunction with the golf outing every year; they do hope to continue the race in the future but will need more volunteers for that to happen. The UCCA is one of the few charities that keeps all its proceeds in Union County to help residents. They not only help with medical bills but also take care of prescriptions, rides to medical appointments, or something as simple as making a nice home-cooked meal.
The UCCA was founded in 2016 since a lot of the money they collected for the national organizations left the county and didn't do much to help out the current residents battling cancer. They host several events each year, including a quarter auction, and give out free chili during Christmas in our Hometown.
If you or anyone you know is looking to volunteer locally, the UCCA is your chance to make a difference. They host several fundraising events each year in Union County and hold their meetings the third Tuesday of each month at Pizza King in Liberty; they welcome the public to join them, so if you have any questions or ideas, they would love for you to come to the next meeting Aug. 17th at 6 p.m.
If you want to help but are not able to volunteer, you can make a direct donation to the UCCA by mailing a check; make checks payable to: The Union County Cancer Association PO Box 294 Liberty,IN 47353.
