UC runner-up at 10-team Winchester golf invitational

Union County’s boys golf team came up short against Richmond, 160-172, at the Elks in Richmond on April 29 but outscored the Red Devils in the 10-team Winchester Invitational two days later.

The Patriots’ 320 round at Winchester Golf Course on Saturday was the second best score in the tournament and nine strokes better than Richmond.
Noblesville was the invitational champion with 307. Union County was runner-up at 320 and Richmond third at 329.

Cameron Woods finished with 75, Luke Yamashiro 79, Zeb Hall 83, Nick Orr 83 and Kaleb York 100.

Woods’ 75 was just one stroke off the medalist mark (74) of Alex Peck of Noblesville and tied with Noblesville’s Will Perkins (75).
