Franklin County baseball picked up a pair of nice conference wins over Greensburg last week, though both games were moved from their original nights thanks to steady rain all week.

On May 5, the Wildcats trailed 4-3 after three complete in Decatur County. That changed when the fifth inning rolled around; FC would drop a 7-spot on the Pirates to blow the game open en route to a 14-5 victory. FC also scored four in the top of six. Junior Kristian Prows led the offense with a perfect 3-of-3 to go with a triple. Senior Joe Fields earned the win after throwing five strong innings. Blane Redd was the losing pitcher.

FC played two games Saturday, the first being against the Pirates. Sophomore Brant Ertel shut down Greensburg with a school record-tying 17 strikeouts in a regulation 7-inning game. The final was a 5-0, 3-hit shutout. The hosts had a 3-run second and added single runs in the fifth and sixth. Drew Messer suffered the loss for the Bucs.

The next weekend game was vs. Northeastern as the Knights pulled off a 6-3 road win. Ben Deitsch went the distance for NE on the mound. Prows collected his second triple of the week in the non-conference loss.

The team got another big EIAC win Monday, defeating Lawrenceburg 5-4. The Tigers made a furious attempt to come back, scoring 4 in the last of the seventh before Garrett Ertel closed the door for the save. Fields earned another win. B. Ertel had 3 hits (double) and Chase Burton 2 hits (double) and 2 runs scored.

FC (13-6, 7-4) hosts Lawrenceburg Thursday.
