Patriots golf team wins TEC plus sets new school record

“Very proud of these boys today,” UC coach Andrew McCashland said. “And four boys all conference. That’s great.”
The TEC also recognizes the top 10 (low scores) including ties. Patriots Cameron Woods, Luke Yamashiro, Zeb Hall and Nick Orr finished in the top 10.
Woods was the overall #1 golfer with 75. Hall was #2 at 76 and Yamashiro and Orr tied for the #5 spot with NE’s Alex Beatty at 81.
Happy with winning the TEC meet, Union County also set a new 9-hole school record at 151.
“Setting the school record is pretty impressive,” Woods said. “We played well, shot 151 on the back nine.”
The previous 9-hole record was 153 set in 1989 by John Gordon, Derek Jenkins, Jeff York, Eric Orr and Steve McDowell and Orr was on hand to see the record fall. Eric Orr is the father of Union County’s #4 golfer, Nick Orr and spent the day on the course to see the Patriots win the TEC meet and set the new 9-hole school record.
UC Invitational is next month
Union County hosts it own Union County Invitational at the Liberty Country Club on Tuesday, June 1.
The 10-team invitational includes Centerville, Connersville, East Cental, Hagerstown, Muncie Burris, Northeastern, Richmond, Rushville, Union City and Winchester.
The Patriots are also scheduled to play at the Richmond Invitational on Thursday, June 3.
The IHSAA boys golf sectional is Monday, June 7.
