Union County defeated the Cowan Lady Blackhawks, 5-1 and 11-1, last Saturday, in the first double-header of the season.  

The Lady Patriots never trailed in either game. Game one winning pitcher Chloe Greene gave up one hit, struck out 12 and walked 3 in game one. 

The game was over by the fifth inning with Union County out front, 5-0. The Lady Pats’ winning total (5)  was accomplished in the first four innings. 

Cowan was hitless and scoreless until the sixth inning. 

Five Lady Blackhawk batters went to the plate. The first one hit a double. The second ground out. The third Cowan hitter singled to right field to score the runner from second base. The Blackhawks ended the inning with a groundout and a strikeout with the final score, UC 5, Cowan 1.

Cowan scored one run on five hits in game two. Bailey Mathews picked up the 11-1 win with 8 strikeouts and two walks. 
Shortstop Annalea Adams led the Lady Patriots with 2 hits, including a 3-run home run in the sixth inning. Sophia Knock, added a double.
