Lady Cats dominate

The Lady Wildcats went into the third inning last Tuesday tied with the Centerville Lady Bulldogs at two each. When the third inning was over, FC was up 16-2. With Bree Bischoff in the circle, she held Centerville to just one more run in the game. The Lady Cats added five more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to win 22-3. Kiersten Schell led FC with three hits. Josie Rolfes and Kensee Ferman both scored four runs each in the game. Ferman also added seven RBI's. Bischoff pitched five innings, giving up two hits, allowing just two earned runs, walking two, and striking out eight Lady Bulldogs in the contest..
Two Undefeateds Battle it Out
Liberty- The undefeated Lady Wildcats softball team played a doubleheader against the undefeated Union County Lady Patriots on Saturday. The Lady Cats fell in game one by a score of 12-1. The lone Lady Cats run came from Bischoff, who scored on a Maci Lake double in the third inning off of UC's pitcher Bailey Mathews. The Lady Patriots’ bats were hot as they put up two runs in the second inning, four more in the fourth inning, and then tallied six more runs in the fifth inning, handing the Lady Cats a 12-1 loss, the first of the year for FC. Lake led the Lady Cats with two hits, while Bischoff and Brooke Stang both collected one hit in the game. Bischoff was credited with the loss. The senior toed the rubber for the Lady Cats in her second start of the year.
In game two of the doubleheader for the Lady Cats, Michaela Ferman was in the circle. The senior went the distance plus an extra inning to earn her fifth win on the year over the #3 ranked class 2A Lady Patriots. Ferman retired 14 of the Union County batters by way of strikeout in the contest.
Game two remained scoreless until the fourth inning when both teams put up two runs each. Tied up, the two teams didn't allow the other to score through seven innings. In the top of the eighth inning, the Lady Cats added three more runs in the extra inning. Ferman shut down Union County in the bottom of the eighth to gain the victory for Franklin County.
JV Softball
The junior varsity Lady Wildcats softball team collected 32 runs on Thursday. FC defeated Rushville's JV team 32-4. The Lady Cats batted around in the first inning, plating nine runs. They added another run in the second inning, then the bats exploded again as they added 15 runs in the third inning to take a 25-0 lead before the Lady Lions could manage to score. Rushville managed to score two runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the fifth inning but FC scored seven more runs over the final two innings to secure a dominating victory. Sophomore Bella Lee earned the victory for FC, going five innings and striking out six.
