Northeastern scored 12 runs over the first three innings last week and that’s all that was needed to beat Union County, 12-1.

Lead-off batter Devyn Shepherd’s single was followed by a Grady Swafford single to move Shepherd to second base. Shepherd stole second and came home on Josh Klein’s two-base hit.

Payton Lumpkin started on the mound for the Knights and gave up no runs on two hits and struck out six over two innings. Landon Sum then came on to finish the game.

NE had 12 runs on 7 hits, 10 strikeouts, and five walks. John Ridenour pitched three innings for the Patriots with Mason Stewart coming on in relief.
