Winchester, Union County do battle through 11 innings

Tied 12-12 at the end of seven innings, and 14-14 after nine, the Winchester Falcons edged Union County in the 11th inning to win the Tri-Eastern Conference battle, 15-14.
Winchester pitcher Justin Cox hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to score the winning run. On the mound for 4-2/3 innings, Cox allowed six hits and two runs, had three strike-outs and gave up one walk.
Lead changes were numerous. UC held an early 3-2 edge but Winchester came back to take over, 7-4, by the end of the second period.
Union County’s big inning came in the top of the seventh when the Patriots batted a complete round to tie the game 12-12.
UC scored 14 runs on 21 hits. The Falcons scored 15 runs on 13 hits.
Starting pitcher Mason Stewart went four innings, allowed 9 runs on 9 hits, three strikeouts and zero walks. Brooks Burelison pitched the first six innings for Winchester, allowed 12 runs, struck out 5 batters and walked one. Losing pitcher Mathew Wooley allowed two hits and one run in two innings.
UC batting leaders were Ridenour (4-for-6), Eric Burdine (3-for-6), Stewart (3-for-5), Shepherd (3-for-6), Blake Richards (3-for-6), and Kyle Sams (2-for-6).
Winchester is 3-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Tri-Eastern Conference. The Patriots are 6-5 this season and 0-2 in the TEC standings.
